The centre for tax analysis in developing countries

Our partnership in Kenya will focus on:

  • Providing technical support in the analysis, formulation and design of tax policy;
  • Strengthening the tax policy making process through evidence-based research and analysis;
  • Supporting the use of data, models, and practical tools to inform tax policy design and implementation; and
  • Building the skills and capacity of staff to undertake tax policy analysis.

Our goal is to support better tax policy making in Kenya that helps the government to raise revenues equitably in conjunction with the National Treasury’s broader macro-economic objectives. Although we are still in the very early stages of our engagement we have already made early progress in supporting officials in the drafting of Kenya’s tax expenditure report. We are currently preparing a workplan to guide our work in 2025/26.
