On Tuesday 10th May, TaxDev hosted a delegation of senior officials from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the Ministry of Finance, including the Commissioner General of GRA, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, and the Director of the Revenue Policy Division (RPD), George Swanzy Winful.

As part of the meeting, Ross Warwick presented emerging findings from ongoing research on Ghana’s VAT system, which is being conducted in partnership with the RPD and the GRA. He also provided an overview of the Customs Revenue Report, which analyses Ghana’s customs revenues in historical and international context, and uses detailed administrative data to investigate the drivers of revenue in recent years.

The visit was part of a lesson-learning trip organised by FCDO Ghana to support Ghana’s Digitalisation Agenda. Delegates also met with representatives from the private sector, the Ghanaian diaspora in the UK, HMRC, and the UK Government Communications Service.
